WHAT PROGRAMS DO WE HELP WITH?

PUBLIC HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAMS

Need Our Help

TennCare

TennCare is Tennessee’s Medicaid program. It provides free health insurance coverage to certain groups of people like pregnant women, children, caretaker relatives of children under 19 years of age, and some adults 65 years of age and older, and some people with disabilities.

MSP

The Medicare Savings Program (MSP) helps people pay for Medicare costs. You might know it as QMB, SLMB, QI, or QDWI.

CoverKids

CoverKids is Tennessee's Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). It offers free or low cost health coverage to pregnant women and children.

LTSS

TennCare Long Term Support Services (LTSS) programs help pay for care in a facility or at home for individuals with disabilities or older adults. These programs include:

  • CHOICES

  • ECF CHOICES

  • DIDD Waivers (1915c Waivers)

  • Katie Beckett Waiver

NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS

SNAP

SNAP – This is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). It provides nutrition benefits to supplement the food budget for families so they can purchase healthy food and move away from food insecurity.

WIC

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) helps pay for food, provides health care referrals, and nutrition education to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, as well as children until the age of 5 years old.

SUMMER EBT

SUMMER EBT – ​Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer Program for Children (Summer EBT) was established as a permanent program when P-EBT ended in 2023. Summer EBT provides grocery-buying benefits to low-income families with school-aged children when schools are closed for the summer.

Self-Help Resources and Information for Clients

We have a directory of resources with information about who can get help with public programs, food assistance, and more.

 

For TennCare/CoverKids issues, call TennCare Connect at 1-855-259-0701. The call is free. Also, make sure that TennCare has your current mailing address so that you will get mail from them. We also recommend setting up an online TennCare Connect account.

 

For Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) issues, Visit your local Department of Human Services (DHS) or call the Family Assistance Service Center at 1 (866) 311-4287. The call is free. We also recommend setting up an online One DHS account.
