HEALTH ADVOCACY PROJECT COORDINATOR

 

Part-Time Position | Based in Nashville, TN | Unpaid internship

We are looking to hire a Legislative Intern to help mobilize our network to advocate for policies and programs that fight hunger. If you’re passionate engaging legislators in the fight against hunger—this could be the job for you. 

​

A typical day might look like:

​​

  • Knowledge of and willingness to learn more about the nutrition assistance programs (SNAP, WIC, School Meals, etc.) 

  • Monitoring state and federal legislation related to nutrition assistance programs (SNAP, WIC, and Child Nutrition Programs.) 

  • Creating county-based and regional information about hunger and nutrition safety net programs to disseminate to legislators 

  • Building relationships with legislators and educating them about the nutrition safety net programs and how TJC can help 

  • Creating digital advocacy campaigns to engage Tennesseans in legislative advocacy related to nutrition assistance programs 

  • Working with partners and community members to advocate for positive policy changes related to hunger in Tennessee

  • You are passionate about ending hunger in Tennessee

  • You have experience with legislative advocacy

  • You flourish on a small team where all-hands on deck is the norm
