NUTRITION ADVOCACY INTERN
Part-Time Position | Based in Nashville, TN | Unpaid internship

For over 28 years, we at the Tennessee Justice Center (TJC) have been standing with Tennessee families and helping them access basic necessities of life. We believe that all our neighbors have value and dignity, that all deserve the opportunity to thrive, and that our laws and public policy should reflect these shared values. Every day our courageous team works hard on behalf of and in partnership with Tennessee individuals, families, and communities.

We are currently seeking interns to assist our nutrition advocacy work on a wide range of projects focused on increasing access to food in Tennessee. Our advocacy efforts include organizing and outreach to increase engagement around TJC’s nutrition initiatives. As a nutrition advocacy intern, you will work to help monitor state and federal legislation with the intent to create policy briefs and conduct research on the best ways to respond to policy proposals.

In addition, you will participate in supporting our SNAP access work by helping individual clients navigate the SNAP program in Tennessee. You will field calls from clients, work with staff attorneys and TJC advocates to determine the best strategy for resolving a client’s challenges. This is an ideal position for recent graduates or undergraduate students who wants to understand how communities can hold their government accountable and learn more about nutrition policy.
